Doug Stowe is the creator and author of the Mr. Knowsit story lines. In his perapatetic career, he has been a publisher, editor, and story writer. Most recently he lent his whimsical style to a clinical study team, steered by Dr. Alex Jadad, that pioneered the use of story telling, as a potential means of facilitating the uptake of information about prevention in the general public. A public spirited person from birth, Doug an active organiser of fund raising events for many causes, and a member of The Flirtations, a rock and roll mime group that remits all of its earnings to charities in and around his home town of Hamilton, Ontario. He has also played the part of a less-than-subtle urban guerilla, shutting down a notorious chemical waste and landfill site, with a handful of others, and sitting on the steering committee of the subsequent eight year Minstry of Health study that has become a benchmark for the treatment of other such sites. He has happily hectored and harangued public officials on behalf of community health.
